Mendoza province extends over a vast area of ​​almost 150,000 km2, located in west-central Argentina at the foot of the Cordillera de los Andes, the highest mountains in America. Together with the neighboring provinces of San Juan, San Luis and La Rioja, Mendoza called up the tourist region of Cuyo.

Its homonymous capital covers about 60 km2, but its metropolitan area, known as Gran Mendoza, stretches over 16,500 km ². It was founded in 1561 in the Huentota valley, near ancient and natural irrigation channels.

The current city layout arose from a new arrangement made in 1863 after Mendoza earthquake in 1861 by French surveyor July Balloffet and includes strategic disposition of four little squares surrounding another one bigger.

Economic activity is linked primarily to agribusiness, whose main products are elaboration of quality wines, where Malbec highlights. Also develops oil extraction and refining. It is also a major tourism point for practice adventure sports, mountaineering and touring vineyards.

The weather is pleasant, warm and with few rains. These climatic conditions and Andean snowmelt rivers presence have enabled that hard and persistent work  of men and women transform the desert soil of Mendoza in beautiful urban and rural oasis where it is enjoyable to live and walk.

Mendoza cities have grown in unique trees shade that became them in real forest cities. Old trees give away its shadow and colors everyday, in return they recieve water from centenarians ditches. Huarpes, Creoles and immigrants memory has been soaked in a way that forged a unique cultural tradition in Argentina that is felt in its streets and museums.

How to get there

The province can be reached by plane. By land via 40 and 143 Routes that crossing Mendoza from north to south, and Route 7, the bi-oceanic corridor which crosses the country from east to west, connecting Buenos Aires with Santiago de Chile.

Now Mendoza has all the services offered by big cities in the world with an excellent business-recreational proposal and offers accommodation from one to five stars in apart-hotels, hostels, cabins and campsites that can be found in every corner of the province.

Main square of neighboring Godoy Cruz is surrounded by buildings constituted historical and cultural heritage of Mendoza. The architecture tells the story of this city. The Police Palace academic style,  Cine Teatro Plaza art deco lines, the 120 years old City Hall, commercial buildings that retained their original facades. And of course, San Vicente Ferrer church, with neo-Gothic style and where are the corpse of Tomas Godoy Cruz.

From the imposing Aconcagua, the highest peak in America, Mendoza announced the majesty of its generous geography. Mountains of snow, tumultuous river valleys, plains and deserts of quiet magic, lavish oasis ... Landscapes of wonder, and activities for everyone.

Los Andes allow the practice of skiing at various ski resorts, among which the Las Lenas. In addition, both cities and some schools and ski mountain in have specific and complementary equipment for congresses, fairs and all kinds of events, where you can combine work with pleasure.

Mendoza is a recognized wine center in South America. Its vineyards produce and export quality wine to many countries, especially its distinctive variety, Malbec. Also this area is a major producer of cabernet sauvignon, sauvignon blanc, syrah, tempranillo, merlot, chardonnais, semillon, chenin and Bonarda. Through the various circuits that have "wine roads" can enjoy this marriage between tourism and wines which  the tireless work of the valleys of Mendoza.
